BT chief futurologist to address Futurex

[Johannesburg, 12 May 2005] - Futurex 2005:The Conference will give delegates a glimpse of the world of the future, when British Telecoms' chief futurologist Ian Pearson delivers the day two keynote address from another continent.

Futurex 2005: The Conference, which kicks off next Wednesday at the Sandton Sun hotel, runs alongside the Futurex exhibition.

Pearson's presentation, entitled “Future world: The challenge of technology and a changing society”, will be a live transmission from the UK, sponsored by BT and Telkom.

He currently works as BT's futurologist, mapping the progress of new developments throughout technology, considering both technological and social implications across the whole of industry, government and society.

Pearson spends much of his time advising on the major threats and opportunities facing the IT sector in the future, at conferences and in the media.

The aim of the Futurex event is to examine and discuss future directions for both corporates and SMEs, against the context of current and future technologies.
