Intoweb, one of the leading Internet service providers in SA, provides services that include Web site design, backend programming, intranet systems and virtual help-desks. A subsidiary of the company is Intoweb Training, which recently relocated to The Innovation Hub.Intoweb Training offers the development of training and examinations systems as part of its core service and is one of the few companies in Africa that exports software. In 2004, it also became the only company in the world to offer online training in Novell products. Its Virtual Expert GroupWise training program has been so successful that Novell International installed it in its own company offices, and reported a 68% reduction in support calls. Intoweb Training was also the first to translate training systems for Microsoft and Novell into Northern Sotho and Zulu.At the recent Futurex Exhibition in Sandton, Intoweb Training successfully launched a new Assessment System, developed in conjunction with the University of Pretoria. With this product already having been sold to a number of South African universities, trials are currently under way to test the planned extension of the system's application to large corporates. All the company's training programmes are subjected to a five-stage quality assessment process and are developed according to the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) system.Looking to the future, Intoweb MD, Darren Harris, points to Open Office training as the next frontier in which to break ground. Already talks are under way with the CSIR's open source initiative, open source provider Obsidian, HP, Novell, and The Shuttleworth Foundation directly. For more information on Intoweb Training, contact Darren Harris on +27 12 844 0400.
