Access control, time and attendance biometrics for several govt departments, private institutions
ISSUED BY: GWT
[Johannesburg, 25 February 2005] - The IDU fingerprint biometric device has been successfully installed at several government departments, namely SA Police Services, Dept of Home Affairs, Dept of Housing and Botswana Telecommunications.

The IDU device, locally designed and manufactured by Guys Without Ties (GWT) boasts another 90 different reference sites throughout SA, including McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Gauteng Health, Spar, Soviet, Ster-Kinekor, etc.

GWT has exported the SA-manufactured IDU to the UK, US, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania and Lesotho. South African engineering seems to have done it again - the IDU has been successful in being the selected choice against the top international products. GWT has approximately 20 distributors/dealers in SA.

According to Eugene Brink, founder and MD of GWT, international market forces and analysts predict 2005 to be the year for general acceptance of biometrics. According to international analysts, the biometrics industry seems to be the next technology wave, promising exponential growth over the next couple of years. Fingerprint technology should have around 45% of the market share over other biometrics technologies, such as retina/iris, voice, facial, etc.

GWT's strategic technology partners include the world's top international biometric companies - implying although locally manufactured, we make use of their international accredited algorithms. GWT is also becoming a Sagem OEM partner in February 2005.

This implies GWT's technology can compete against even our partners' (and does so) on an international and local level, at reduced cost for the same quality and functionality.
