IKON expands portfolio
IKON has added the imagePRESS C7000VP digital press to its production colour portfolio, says Whattheythink.com.
Featuring technology designed to handle the speed of the production environment with imaging quality that rivals offset printing, the digital press is designed for mid- to high-end production colour environments.
"The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP allows us to expand our reach into both our existing corporate accounts and the commercial print market," explains Bill Carpou, VP of US marketing at IKON Office Solutions.
Monotype unveils driver kits
Monotype Imaging has released a suite of printer driver kits that support the Microsoft XML Paper Specification (XPS), says TMCnet.
Three PDKs are now available to printer manufacturers: the XPS to XPS PDK, which supports devices with an embedded XPS interpreter, the XPS to image PDK for raster-based printers, and the XPS to PS PDK designed for PostScript-compatible devices.
"XPS is an important advancement in the Windows Vista operating system, thanks to improved print fidelity, increased print speed of complex files and the ability to create portable fixed-layout documents," said Madelyn Bryant McIntire, principal group programme manager in Microsoft's Windows Experience division.

Objectif Lune has unveiled PlanetPress Suite Version 6 and the launch of PlanetPress Server, the newest addition to the company's product portfolio, says Manufacturing Talk.
Allowing users to expand their print operations to all printers, PostScript or not, PlanetPress Server addresses the market's changing printing practises and give customers more options for all their output.
PlanetPress Suite 6 also makes more capabilities routinely available to more users, such as including PlanetPress Design with any purchased PlanetPress Suite module or printer licences.
