| [Johannesburg, 13 June 2005] -
Data integration software company Informatica has been positioned in the "Leader" quadrant in Gartner's 11 May 2005 report, "Magic Quadrant for ETL, 1H05".According to Gartner, leaders are vendors that are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction, and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. The report shows the ETL tool market is making the transition to broader data integration platforms. Partnership, merger and acquisition activity is fuelling growth and increasing the pressure on pure-play ETL vendors."Informatica's position in the ETL Magic Quadrant is a tribute to the company's unmatched track record for technology innovation," says Charl Barnard, GM of Informatica at local distributor, Knowledge Integration Dynamics (KID)."Further extending its decade-long technology leadership, Informatica recently redefined the requirements for data integration with the delivery of PowerCenter Advanced Edition, and outlined the strategic direction of its product roadmap. On the heels of two consecutive quarters of record financial results, Informatica continues to show its momentum for continued growth as the leading independent data integration vendor."Informatica PowerCenter provides a unified enterprise data integration platform to help organisations access, transform and integrate data from a large variety of systems and deliver that information to other transactional systems, real-time business processes and people.PowerCenter supports the activities of a business's integration competency centre (ICC) and other integration experts by serving as the foundation for data warehousing, data migration, consolidation, single view, metadata management and synchronisation. By enabling enterprises to create a single, consistent enterprise-wide information resource, PowerCenter helps them reduce IT costs and complexity, harness new technologies and empower the business.
